After 20 years of dedicated service, Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois helped celebrate the retirement of Sgt. David Campbell with a large reception.

Held on Friday,  deputies and administration from the Sheriff’s Office joined personnel from law enforcement agencies throughout the Mid-Hudson to pay tribute to Campbell, known for his professionalism and dedication to public service.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and District Attorney David Hoovler were also guests at the event.

Campbell was recognized for his 20 years of service with the Sheriff’s Office, including the last 16 with the K-9 unit.

“We certainly appreciate Sgt. Campbell’s service to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office,” DuBois said. “Dave commanded respect and will be greatly missed. He is a consummate professional and cared deeply about his work with the K-9 unit. I commend him on a remarkable career and wish him the best in retirement.”

Campbell ran the K-9 Unit and was a two-time handler. He worked with his first K-9, Max, for 12 years and with K-9 Scout for the past 10 years. Friday was Scout’s last day of service as well. He is retiring alongside Campbell.

“They will both be greatly missed,” DuBois said.
