The Orange County Sheriff’s Office held its K-9 Academy explosives and narcotics detection graduation last week, following an intense training course.

Held at the County’s Emergency Services Center in Goshen, the graduates are:

  • Sgt. Dustin Palen from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Skip;
  • Deputy Kevin Golden and K-9 Lennon and Officer Alex Lopez and K-9 Bam, both from the Rockland County’s Sheriff’s Office;
  • Woodbury Officer Jahn Farrell and K-9 Zeke;
  • Town of Wallkill Officer Ian Holmes and K-9 Argo;
  • City of Port Jervis Officer Andrew Haniuk and K-9 Roan;
  • Sgt. John Manna and K-9 Melville and Deputy Chris Irwin, and K-9 Kato, both from the Village of Goshen.

All were trained by Sgt. David Campbell for 12 weeks of explosive detection and eight weeks of narcotics detection.

During the graduation event, Campbell, who is retiring in January, was recognized for 20-years of service with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, including the last 16 with the K-9 unit.

Joining Sheriff Carl DuBois during the event were sheriff's office members Undersheriff Ken Jones, Assistant Undersheriff Anthony Weed, Chief Dennis Barry, Capt. Paul Arteta and Sgt. Dave Campbell.
