A Hudson Valley motorist was among four busted throughout the state for driving while intoxicated overnight.

Since the new year began, New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies have been “out in full force” to curtail impaired drivers in the region as part of a statewide crackdown.

Among those arrested was Middletown resident Rob Whitby, 59, who was stopped on Route 211 in Middletown on Wednesday morning for a vehicle and traffic law violation. During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that Whitby was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested at the scene.

Whitby was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. Other arrests were made in Catskill, Kingston and Plattekill. Following arraignment, the drivers were released to sober third parties and are due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
