A registered sex offender convicted of having sexual contact with a woman incapable of consenting has reported a move into Orange County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 53-year-old Felix Santiago, who has moved to an apartment on Spring Street in Newburgh.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Santiago as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Santiago had sexual contact with a 24-year-old woman in 1995. He was convicted of having sexual contact with an individual incapable of consent in 1997 and sentenced to eight months in jail. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
