Preliminary investigation reveals that, at around 5:37 p.m., a 2006 Dodge Durango, operated by a 42-year-old man from the City of Poughkeepsie, traveling northbound on Route 9, struck a center guard rail/median causing the vehicle to overturn and subsequently struck a 2002 Kia Sedona, operated by a 62-year-old female from the City of Poughkeepsie, also traveling north on Route 9.

Both operators were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. One passenger from the Dodge Durango was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

No other occupants were listed as being involved.

Northbound Route 9, just north of Sharon Drive, was shut down for approximately five hours for the accident investigation.

Arlington Fire and Mobile Life Support services assisted.

If anyone witnessed the accident, or has additional information regarding the accident, they are asked to contact Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Detective Leonard at 845-485-3670.
