NEWBURGH, N.Y. – A prostitution sweep in the City of Newburgh on Wednesday resulted in charges for prostitution being levied against five women and charges of soliciting a prostitute for three men, according to the City of Newburgh Police Department.
Newburgh residents Trenette Melvin, 48; Monica Diaz, 35; Carol Depalma, 39; Sierra Verdon, 22; and Christine Spencer, 42 were all charged with prostitution, police said.
Bernardino Rianchos, 51, of Newburgh; Emilio Cortes, 46, of Gardiner; and Robert Espinoza, 54, of Bakersfield, Cali., were all charged with patronizing a prostitute.
Also arrested during the operation was an unidentified juvenile who is facing several counts of possession of a controlled substance, Newburgh Police said.
