New York State Police troopers were dispatched to the Valvoline garage on Route 9 in Wappinger, when a plow contractor working in the area reported that there was a burglary in progress.

Police said that investigators determined that Fishkill resident Daniel Lorenzini, 29, an employee at the garage, was illegally inside, damaged a door and various other items in the process before he attempted to flee the scene.

Lorenzini was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is due to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on Thursday afternoon to answer the charges.
