A 22-year-old Newark man has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed a 21-year-old Bloomfield resident on Friday, Sept. 1, authorities said.
Gabriel Melo was behind the wheel of the 2018 Audi that collided with the tractor trailer on the Routes 1 & 9 North ramp at Route 139 West, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Melo was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, Sept. 7, Suarez said.

Thousands Raised In Memory Of Hackensack Shooting Victim Christian Pacas, 22
The community is rallying to help provide a memorial for Christian Pacas, who was gunned down last month in Hackensack.
Pacas, 22, was remembered on a GoFundMe as a "spirited life" with "big dreams for himself and his family."
The campaign, launched by Maria Pacas, had raised more than $8,800 as of Wednesday afternoon.
"Anyone that knew him knew how true he was to himself and that is something anyone can say is extremely rare," Maria Pacas wrote. "He always had a way to make you laugh, smile, and lift you up."

Kenneth Richard Williams, Jr. of Elmwood Park died on May 27, Memorial Day. He was 27 years old.

Franklin P. Zhinin of River Edge died on Wednesday, May 9. He was 31 years old.
Zhinin was a social worker for Fundamentals Inc. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
He is predeceased by his father, Sagrado Zhinin.

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Deran Stenborg of Elmwood Park died January 3. He was 45.
Stenborg was born in Hackensack and raised in Wallington, where he graduated from Wallington High School in 1990. He then lived in Wood-Ridge, before moving to Elmwood Park give years ago.

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. – Lifelong Saddle Brook resident Joseph R. Di Bella died on Jan. 4. He was 37.
Di Bella, who was born in Ridgewood, is survived by his parents, Raymond and Betina “Tina” (née Nevoso) Di Bella, brother Daniel, sister Dawn Canestrino and her husband Arthur, niece Juliana, nephew Artie, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
