Family Dollar Killing: Teen Admits Gunning Down Man At Troy Store
Nearly a year after a husband and father of five was shot to death outside a Family Dollar store in the region, a teenager has formally confessed to killing him.
Jahteek Sanchez, age 17 or 18, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Rensselaer County Court on Friday, May 17, in the death of Alexander Crawford.
The 39-year-old Crawford, of Troy, was fatally shot on July 2, 2023, outside the Family Dollar store located near 102nd Street and 2nd Avenue in Troy.
According to Police, Sanchez and Crawford got into an argument in front of the business and Sanchez opened fire.

Two of three defendants have been convicted for their roles in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy from the region.
A Rensselaer County jury found Ramel Gulley, age 29, of Schenectady, and William Webb, age 30, of Brooklyn, guilty of second-degree murder on Friday, March 22, in the killing of Christopher Anthony.
Prosecutors said Gulley, Webb, and a third defendant forced their way into Anthony’s Troy home, located near River Street and Glen Avenue, on Jan. 5, 2022.

Woman Stalks Albany, Troy Victim For Months, Files False Child Abuse Claims, Police Say
A woman from the region is accused of stalking a person for months, stealing their identity, and wrongly accusing them of child abuse.
Rensselaer County resident Nacirema Harris, age 28, of Troy, was arraigned on more than a dozen charges, including burglary and identity theft, in Albany County Court on Friday, March 8.
New York State Police said troopers began investigating the case in January 2024. After determining that Harris had followed the victim in both Troy and Albany, they obtained a warrant to search her Troy residence.

He was sent to help them, but police say a paramedic from the region stole from his patients after they were hospitalized.
Albany County resident Devvan Farina, age 39, of Albany, was arrested on multiple felony charges, including burglary, on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Bethlehem Police said Farina stole from multiple homes while working as a paramedic for the Albany County Sheriff’s Office in Bethlehem and a firefighter for the city of Troy.

A 16-year-old girl from the region has been located after going missing for several days.
Julissa O’Reilly, of Troy, had last been seen on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the city’s downtown area.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, Troy Police announced that she was located in Lansingburgh and was reunited with her family.
In an unrelated case, Schenectady Police are still asking for help in locating 13-year-old Gabrella Lopez, who disappeared on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
