A Long Island jury convicted a man for subjecting two women to hours of torture that included beatings and burns with a hot iron.
Johnathan Wright, age 34, of Lindenhurst, was found guilty of assault, witness tampering, and more than three dozen other charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, March 28.
Prosecutors said Wright was staying at a Ronkonkoma hotel with two women, one of whom suffered from mental disabilities, on July 21, 2021. He became enraged when the women fell asleep while giving him a back massage.

New York resident Christopher Thomas, age 40, of Colonie in Albany County, was sentenced to 40 years behind bars Monday, Oct. 30, in Albany federal court.
According to prosecutors, Thomas coerced numerous vulnerable children and young women, some as young as 16, to engage in sex work for his financial benefit between 2018 and 2020.
