Beginning at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, motorists traveling on the New York State Thruway should anticipate multiple lane and ramp closures near the bridge as operations commence. There will also be a complete shutdown of all traffic in the area for up to 20 minutes at approximately 10 p.m.

According to officials, the traffic stop will allow the Thruway Authority and Tappan Zee Constructors to stage operations, stripe lanes at both ends of the bridge and shift barriers and equipment.

All four Rockland-bound lanes will remain open during this time, though Exit 10 (Nyack / State Route 99) will be closed beginning at 9 p.m., with drivers being detoured to Exit 11.

In Westchester, Exit 9 (Tarrytown / Sleepy Hollow / State Route 9) will see its off-ramp closed beginning at 10 p.m., with motorists being detoured to Exit 8A. All lanes and ramps are scheduled to be reopened by 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Officials said that there will be signage posted for motorists, with detours clearly marked to avoid any confusion.
