Offender Convicted Of Sexually Abusing 7-Year-Old Girls Reports Move In Newburgh

A registered sex offender who was convicted of having sexual contact and intercourse with a 7-year-old girl has reported a move in Orange County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 59-year-old George Babcock, who has moved to a residence on First Street in Newburgh..

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Babcock as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Babcock had sexual intercourse and contact with his victim on June 2, 2008. He was convicted of criminal sexual act with a victim under the age of 11 on June 26 that year and sentenced to a term of 10 years in prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
