Elaine 'Mrs. D' DiGregorio Of Wappingers, 71 Elaine DiGregorio, also known as "Mrs. D", of Wappingers, died Sunday. She was 71 years old. A resident of the village of Wappingers for more than 45 years, DiGregorio was an integral part of the village's girls softball as well as little league baseball. She retired from the U.S. Postal service after 19 years. Her golden years were spent spoiling her grandchildren and enthusiastically cheering on the Huson Valley Renegades. She was predeceased by her husband Frank DiGregorio. She is survived by her brother, John Thompson; her two sons; Steven and Matthew, as well as grandchildren…

Richard Freud, 86, Lived In Pearl River More Than Half A Century Richard (Dick) Freud, a 52 year resident of Pearl River, died Wednesday, June 21, at The Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, at the age of 86. Freud, who served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as an Army Ranger, worked for the New York City Police Department for more than 33 years as a Lieutenant in the Mid-Town North Precinct.  He later enjoyed retirement with his wife of 62 years, Rita, splitting their time in Sun City, Ariz., for a number of years, before returning full time to Pearl River. She worked hard in the mortgage and real estate business for many years while she raised three children. She loved her family, friends, Italian food, music, and dancing. A yearlong battle with cancer led her to the Rosary Hill Home, where she spent her final months surrounded by family and friends. Man Charged In Wappinger Burglary, Stabbing With Large Knife A man who stabbed two Wappinger residents with a large knife during a dispute and burglary on Saturday was captured on Monday, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Kwame McDermott, 23, of Newburgh, was charged with the stabbing after deputies responded to the Kent Road residence around 6:40 a.m., said Capt. John Watterson. Watterson said deputies found two people with non-life threatening stab wounds when they arrived on scene and that the intruder had fled the area. Memorial Services Scheduled For Harrison Man Found Dead Services will be held Thursday for Joe Diaz, 51, of Harrison, who died after falling off a boat on Saturday on Long Island Sound. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to noon at George T. Davis Funeral Home at 16 Shea Place in New Rochelle. Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery at 215 North St. in Rye. Diaz, who worked at a scrap metal yard in Port Chester, was pulled from the water early Sunday after about an hour of searching, Stamford fire officials said. Nyack High School Holds Graduation Following Teen's Tragic Death NYACK, N.Y. -- More than 200 Nyack High School students said goodbye to high school and hello to the future during a ceremony on Friday in the school's auditorium.  The ceremony, which had been delayed a day due to the death of fellow senior, Kailana Koether on Thursday, just hours before the graduation.  The school canceled the ceremony and moved it to Friday night and instead held a candlelight vigil in Kailana's honor.
