A Newburgh man who sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13, was sentenced to five years in prison in Orange County Court.

Timothy Antonucci, 48,  was arrested by New York State Police in April, for felony rape, and two counts of a committing a criminal sexual act, in addition to endangering the welfare of a child, according to the state police.

Antonucci, who was acquainted with the child, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual act, in connection with subjecting a child to sexual acts under a plea agreement last year.

In addition to the five years, he will also be subject to 10 years of post-release supervision and is prohibited from contacting the child.

New York State police said the assault took place in the towns of Newburgh and Plattekill.
