A multi-agency police investigation led to the arrests of five men in possession of illegal weapons, cocaine, heroin and other drugs in a Newburgh apartment.

The New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and officers from the Newburgh Police Department conducted a narcotics investigation which led to the execution of a warrant on Wednesday at an apartment on Broadway in Newburgh.

During the execution of the warrant, police seized a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun, 78.5 grams of cocaine, 151 bags of heroin, numerous pills, drug packaging materials and $8,400 in cash.

The warrant led to the arrest of Newburgh residents Taureen Mayshack, 35, Paul Vega, 23, Ahquan Stevenson, 29, Keith Davis, 60 and New Paltz resident Anthony Daley, 38. Each was charged with felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon, as well as seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Following arraignment, Mayshack, Davis and Stevenson were remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail. Daley and Vega were remanded in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond. All five are due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
