Million-Dollar Winners: Group Including Nassau County Residents Claims Top Prize
A group of six people, including some from Long Island, have claimed their top lottery prize, splitting it amongst themselves, lottery officials said.
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the New York Lottery announced that the lucky group had claimed their million-dollar prize for matching the first five numbers for the Mega Millions drawing that occurred months before.
The group included two Nassau County residents:
Mindy Golomb of Great Neck, who won $108,500 after required withholdings; and
Susan Eugene from Bellerose, who won $102,040 after required withholdings.

Million-Dollar Lottery Ticket Sold At This New Hyde Park Store
If you purchased a lottery ticket at this Long Island location, you may be a newly minted millionaire, according to lottery officials.
On Wednesday, Aug. 23, the New York Lottery announced that a second-prize winning Mega Millions ticket, worth $1 million, was sold at a New Hyde Park convenience store.
The ticket was purchased at Cumberland Farms, located at 2201 New Hyde Park Road, and was a part of the Tuesday, Aug. 22 drawing.
Winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of one to 70, with the Mega Ball being drawn from a separate field of one to 25.

Bridgeport 46-Year-Old Nabbed Again For Multiple Robberies, Police Say
A man who has served time in prison for armed robberies has been nabbed again for alleged multiple robberies in Fairfield County.
Jorge Ruiz, age 46, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16 for multiple armed robberies that occurred in Bridgeport. He was also wanted for armed robberies in Stratford and Naugatuck.
At the time of his arrest, Ruiz had an outstanding warrant for an armed robbery that occurred at Sergio’s Pizza located in Bridgeport at 780 Madison Ave., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in which he was armed with a Mac 10/Uzi-type firearm, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran, of the Bridgeport Police.

Woman Assaulted, Robbed Pumping Gas In Ansonia, Police Say
A woman pumping gas at a Connecticut gas station was injured after being assaulted and then robbed by at least one person armed with a gun.
The incident took place in New Haven County at the Cumberland Farms on Pershing Drive in Ansonia around 4 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27.
According to the Ansonia Police, several suspects, driving a stolen vehicle, confronted, assaulted, and robbed a woman who was pumping gas.
At least one suspect was armed with a firearm. The suspects fled in the stolen vehicle after the incident, police said.
