Drunk Ramapo Man Parked In Public Lot Faces Felony DWI Charge, Police Say
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Pomona man was charged with felony DWI after officers checked out a vehicle sitting in a public parking lot, Ramapo police said.The arrest of the unidentified 37-year-old man took place at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, after officers discovered the man was drinking alcohol in the running vehicle, police said. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. The officer later learned that the man had been convicted of a DWI offense within the last 10 years, making the offense a felony. Judge Upholds St. Lawrence Conviction
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Former Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawerence's bid for a new trial was denied by a U.S. District Court judge on his May conviction for fraud and conspiracy, according to lohud.com. Judge Cathy Seibel denied the new trial Wednesday at the federal court in White Plains, saying the jury acted on sufficient evidence and was not influenced in its deliberations, lohud.com said. Female Pedestrian Struck By Teen Driver On Route 59 In Monsey
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A female pedestrian was injured when she was struck by a vehicle on Route 59 and Robert Pitt Drive in the Monsey area, according to Ramapo Police. An investigation into the incident determined that at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a 2004 Toyota sedan being driven by a 17-year-old male from Monsey, struck a 62-year-old woman, also from Monsey, said Sgt. Road Closed After Gas Line Struck In Monsey
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Part of West Central Avenue in Monsey is shut down due to a gas line break by contractors performing work in the area, according to the Ramapo Police. The break occurred around 11:33 a.m. Wednesday at 524 W. Central Ave., police said at noontime. ID Released For Motorcyclist Killed In Route 55 Crash
A motorcyclist killed in a three-vehicle accident on Tuesday in the Town of LaGrange has been identified as a 42-year-old Poughkeepsie man, according to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Timothy Veach was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred around 7:30 a.m., near Mandalay Drive, involved two cars and a motorcycle, said Watterson. Nanuet Teens Caught Smoking Pot In Ramapo Children’s Park
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Nanuet teens were nabbed for smoking pot in the Children's Park in the Village of Chestnut Ridge on Tuesday, according to Ramapo Police.The teens were arrested after officers patrolling the park around 6:15 p.m., smelled burning marijuana and noticed several males sitting at a picnic table, police said. After investigating, the officers found two of the males were in possession of marijuana. The teens, both 19 from Nanuet, were charged with possession, processed and released. They will appear in court at a later date.

Missing Poughkeepsie Teen Located
This story has been updated. A Poughkeepsie teen who had been missing for more than a week has been located, according to Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Ken Roman. Detectives had been searching for the teen, Kenia Arriaga, 15, after she was reported missing on Sept. 17, Roman said. Expect Delays: Delivery Truck Crash Brings Down Power Lines In Nanuet
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Commuters and residents should expect detours and delays Wednesday morning as crews work to repair a utility pole that has closed part of Orchard Street in Nanuet, Clarkstown Police said. The pole was hit by a delivery driver on Tuesday, causing intermittent power outages in the area. Power has been restored, but police are waiting for low hanging wires to be repaired. The roadway is closed from Main Street to the train tracks, police said.

Injuries Reported In Poughkeepsie Bus Crash
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie firefighters responded to a two-car crash involving a school bus on Monday which resulted in five people going to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. The crash occurred at 4 p.m. between a small school bus and a vehicle at the intersection of Winnikee Avenue and Cottage Street, Johnson said. Two adults and three children received minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals, he added.
