WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Joined by community leaders, housing advocates and executives from Lazz Development on Friday, County Executive Rob Astorino celebrated the opening of Armonk Commons, a new affordable housing complex. Putnam Adds Eight Buses To Fleet
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- In an effort to ensure passenger safety and maximize efficiency, County Executive MaryEllen Odell announced that Putnam recently added eight new buses to its fleet. “Updating our buses allows us to better serve the public,” said Odell. “Newer vehicles are less prone to breakdowns and are better to accommodate the needs of our ridership. DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Hyde Park police nabbed two burglars during a special enforcement effort to solve multiple commercial break-ins that have been occurring over the past few weeks. CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- The Clarkstown Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own with the announcement that retired Police Captain William Archaki died Friday. Archaki began his law enforcement career in 1962 as a patrolman. He rose through the ranks of the department serving as a sergeant, detective sergeant, detective lieutenant and finally in 1988, he was promoted to captain, the Clarkstown police said. Novartis Site In Suffern Sells For $18 Million
The sprawling 162-acre campus owned for years by Novartis was sold for $18 million to a buyer that made a quick $12 million by reselling it for $30 million to a Manhattan-based investment firm, according to lohud.com. The pharmaceutical company sold the property to RS Old Mill LLC, who turned around and sold the site to Suffern Partners LLC, lohud reported. DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- What might sound like boring stuff to most residents could end up saving them money and provide better services in the long run.
