Somers Woman Faces DWI Charge After Car Crash In Mahopac A Somers woman was charged with DWI on July 23, after crashing her vehicle in Mahopac, according to Carmel police.  Danielle Gomes, 42, was arrested after police responded to a single-vehicle crash in which she had crossed the road markings and was speeding, police said. Gomes was charged with DWI, crossing pavement markings and driving at an unreasonable speed, police said. She was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.

Man Crashes Through Hedges, Into Patio Bench, Tree In Rockland ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  A 59-year-old man's vehicle went off the road and struck hedges, a patio bench and tree before landing on an embankment in Hillcrest on Wednesday, according to Ramapo police. Police responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash around 11 p.m. and found a vehicle that had crashed into an embankment of trees and shrubs on the south side of East Eckerson Road, just west of Buena Vista Avenue, police said. John Anderson of Mahopac was stopped recently after officers noticed he didn't have operable tail lights. During the stop, officers determined that Anderson was drunk and that he didn't have a driver's license, police said. 20 Passengers Safely Evacuated From Smoking TOR Bus In Nanuet A reported TOR bus fire in Nanuet around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday turned out to be smoke coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle, according to Rockland County Executive Ed Day. The incident, which took place on Smith Street, caused all 20 passengers to get off the bus while the Nanuet Fire Department and the Rockland County Sheriff's Office responded, Day added.
