Hiker Suffers Head Injury In Fall Off Trail In Dover, Police Say A man was injured while hiking in Dover on Tuesday in the Stone Church Lane area, according to the New York State Police. The man fell from a trail around 12:26 p.m. and sustained a head injury, said Trooper Melissa McMorris. The unidentified man was transported to Westchester Medical Center with a laceration to his head, she added. A 51-year-old man was found dead Tuesday in the Ramapo River around noon, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. Numerous police departments were on the scene off Waldron Terrace, behind the I-87 Thruway rest stop within the Eleanor Burlingham Memorial County Park, a 45-acre nature preserve in Sloatsburg Village. Fox In Mahopac Attack Tests Positive For Rabies A gray fox that attacked a Mahopac woman on Saturday and then chased her inside her home has tested positive for rabies, the Putnam County Department of Health told Daily Voice on Tuesday afternoon. Barbara Ilardi, the spokeswoman for the department, said it received the results Tuesday morning: "As expected, the fox tested positive for rabies." Tree Brings Down Power Lines, Igniting Fire In Valley Cottage ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A downed tree has closed Christian Herald Road in Valley Cottage for at least the next two hours as Orange & Rockland Utilities work to replace a transformer and downed lines, police said. The large tree, which came down around 3:45 p.m., sparked a small brush fire as the wires and transformer landed in the roadway and nearby brush. The fire has been extinguished.  The Valley Cottage Fire Department and Clarkstown Police Department are on the scene monitoring traffic.
