10 Rockland Businesses Awarded Block Grants Totaling More Than $1M
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced Thursday the annual Community Development Block Grant awards, which have funded 10 projects worth $1.165 million.
They include:

Micah Orifici Of Waccabuc, 42, Founder Of Mamaroneck Tech Company
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Micah Justin Orifici, 42, of Waccabuc, the founder of EduTek Ltd. in Mamaroneck, died suddenly on June 30.
Orifici was born in White Plains, on Jan. 16, 1975. He attended Woodlands High School in Greenburgh, then Columbia University where he graduated in 1996 with a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering. He founded EduTek Ltd., a thriving educational technology company in Mamaroneck in 1995.
He married his college sweetheart, Cheryl (Pak) on Oct. 5, 1996, and was devoted to his children, Madison Camille and Christian Justin.

Michael James Barone, 56, an area resident for 31 years, died unexpectedly on July 1, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Tarrytown on February 23, 1961, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Irene Barone. He was married to Susan Barone who survives at home. WWII Vet John J. Montaldo Sr. Of Montrose, Formerly Of Ossining, 94
John J. Montaldo, Sr., 94, a resident of Montrose and former resident of Ossining, died Wednesday, July 5.
Montaldo was born in Ossining on June 22, 1923, and was the son of the late Moses and Frances (Silvestri) Montaldo.
A veteran of WW II, Montaldo served in the Army in the Pacific with the 877th Bomber Squadron as a staff sergeant. He was a retired welder and a member of the Teamsters Local 456 in Elmsford.
