Backpacks, Supplies Program Pitching In For Dutchess Students DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Needy students across Dutchess County will have school supplies thanks to the hard work of Dutchess County Government employees, City of Poughkeepsie employees and Marist College students. The group collected over 1,400 composition notebooks and school supplies as part of the "Backpacks, Supplies & More" program, according to Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.  The school supplies will be distributed to local students who need them on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Christ Episcopal Church, 20 Carroll St., in Poughkeepsie.

Man Caught Stealing From Work Truck In New City, Police Say ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  A Spring Valley man was arrested by Clarkstown Police on Wednesday for the recent theft of construction tools from a work truck in New City. Chad Weinstein, 33, was charged after Clarkstown detectives investigated the report of the theft from a truck that was parked in a parking lot on Squadron Boulevard in New City while the victim was working on a machine on June 22, Officer Peter Walker said. I-84 Lane Closures Will Also Impact Route 52 Motorist should be prepared for lane closures and slow downs during road construction on I-84 beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in the area of Route 52, according to state DOT officials. The work is expected through 5 a.m. Sunday as crews perform bridge repair work, weather permitting, DOT said.
