Town Of Poughkeepsie Police Department Celebrates Youth Academy DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sixteen teens recently graduated from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department's 2017 Youth Academy. The five-day academy, offered to students in high school, was the second for the department and is aimed at providing positive interaction with police officers and create a better understanding and communication between the officers and young people, said Capt. Man Smashes Window During Fight In Nyack, Police Say ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A South Nyack man was charged with criminal mischief after breaking a window Wednesday at a home during a fight, according to the Orangetown Police. Steven Wilkerson, 58, was charged after police responded to a call of a dispute on Sickles Avenue in Nyack around 4:33 a.m., said Sgt. Kirk Vega. The homeowner told police that they had an argument with Wilkerson inside the house. Zachary Eginger, 30, was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana after the drugs were discovered during a traffic stop, said Lt. James Janso. Eginger was stopped for traffic violations on Route 44 in Highland, Janso said. Body Of Teen Pulled From Lake At Harriman State Park An 18-year-old teen died in a possible drowning at Pine Meadow Lake in Harriman State Park on Thursday, according to the state Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. The incident took place around 3:30 p.m., when the unidentified male was swimming with a group of other teens. Emergency responders pulled the teen from the water and immediately began CPR,  Dan Keefe, deputy public information officer said.
