Man Seriously Injures Woman In Beacon Sexual Assault, Police Say
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Beacon man was arrested Monday after a woman reported he sexually assaulted her, causing “serious injuries,” according to Det. Lt. Lou Lucato.
Nicholas LaBarbera, 38, was charged with one count of felony criminal sex act after the 39-year-old Staten Island woman called police around 4:30 p.m. Monday to reported the incident, said Lucato.
Police met with the woman and investigated the crime, who then charged LaBarbera, police said.
The woman was treated for her injuries at a hospital outside of Dutchess County, Lucato added.

Poughkeepsie Native, 17, Dies After Being Hit By Car
Jennifer Lynn Curry, 17, a Poughkeepsie native and BOCES student, died Thursday, June 22, at the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus, after being hit by a car in Kingston.
Jennifer was struck by a 69-year-old woman as she was walking north on the shoulder of Lucas Avenue, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
Mobile Life Support services transported her to Health Alliance Broadway Campus where she later died.

Ramapo Detective Lieutenant Mark Emma Calls It A Career
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- After more than 30 years of serving the residents of Ramapo, Detective Lt. Mark Emma retired from the police department on Monday.Emma, who had a voice that sounded 20 years younger than his age, began his law enforcement career in 1984 with the City of Middletown Police Department before joining Ramapo in July of 1986.
During his time with the department, he served as police officer, sergeant, patrol services sergeant, patrol lieutenant and detective lieutenant.
As Detective Lieutenant, he supervised several high-profile cases, bringing them to a successful conclusion.

Timothy Brady Of Nyack, 68, Worked In Irvington School District
Timothy Brady, 68, of Nyack, died Monday, June 5, at home from kidney failure and a spinal cord injury.
Brady worked for 30 years as the audio-visual specialist for the Irvington Union Free School District. He was well respected by all his colleagues for his dedication, thoughtfulness and good humor.
When he retired, his opened his own sound company, EDIT Sight & Sound. He was an active presence in both indoor and outdoor events, charitable functions and concerts in and around Nyack and Westchester. He loved music and for more than 25 years was the chief sound engineer at the Tarrytown …
