East Ramapo Voters OK Revised School Budget RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A light turnout of voters passed the district's revised budget on Tuesday during a special election. According to the unofficial results from the school district, 2,121 votes were in favor of the proposed budget and 1,809 were opposed. Only six percent of the district's 58,000 registered voters cast ballots. The $231.6 million budget, which includes a 1.48 percent tax increase, or about $120 annually for the average household, will be used in part to increase summer programs and the arts, as well as for special education and add to support services at district schools. “On …

Born on Sept. 10, 1937, in Niebelsbach, Germany, Roth came to this country at the age of 18. He served in the U.S. Army and became an American citizen while stationed in Hawaii. Lider Velez, the head janitor of the village, was charged with multiple counts of unlawful surveillance, a felony, after installing the camera, police said.
